Well.
Everything went well yesterday. A little too well. Kind of like when you win a few bucks on the 649, and then because you're really sure it must be some sort of cosmic error, you double and triple check to make sure a large bus isn't barreling down on you when crossing through traffic.
Granted, I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it really sounds like they like me, and they want me. Which is great, because I like them too! I had a fantastic chat with the HR director, and she seemed fairly optimistic about my chances. So now I'll wait to see if I'm short-listed, and go back to meet with the department heads I'd be assisting. I should know by the end of this week, early next. For this, I'm baking cookies. No, I'm not crazy. I'm just busting out the best example of silly, unsolicited work surprises I can provide. Chocolate and peanut butter style.
Meanwhile, I'm still juggling other 'work' commitments, of which I won't mention here. I'll feel bad if I get the dream job, and have to opt out on my contract - however, Phil can step up and take it over (since he would have probably been next in line for it anyway). But I've been handling most of the staffing this week, and given that we've had a lot of people disappear this year it's proving really hard to fill all the positions we need to. Plus, I'm trying to keep someone in the back pocket to cover Phil's job, should he have to cover mine. I wouldn't feel so bad about the whole thing if I wasn't working for a good friend. However, I think - I hope - that friend would understand that this job opportunity I have dangling in front of me is going to really help my career in the long run.
Lots of dance lately. I had a gig a few weeks back at a restaurant in Richmond. It was an odd crowd - they weren't very responsive. The owners were very nice, however. I also danced in the Pride Parade with a friend's troupe 'Dance Arabia', which was fun, but exhausting. I've never actually even seen the parade, due to past work commitments and other schedule clashes. So it was interesting that my first view of it was from the inside looking out. So many beautiful people.
Also, I'll be dancing with Binet Rahma at the PNE on Saturday, September 1st. Rahma won't be in the show, sadly, but it should still be a fun time regardless.
Hmm. Need food.
